MP4Joiner for Windows

MP4Joiner is the joining program in the free, open-source MP4Tools suite by Alex Thüring. On Windows you download one installer — MP4Tools-3.8-win32.exe — which installs both MP4Joiner (merge) and MP4Splitter (split). The current and final release is MP4Tools 3.8 (20 November 2019); there has been no newer version since.

About the “win32” name: there is no separate 64-bit build

The installer is a 32-bit program — that is what “win32” in the filename means. There is no official 64-bit edition of MP4Joiner. That is not a problem in practice: a 32-bit program runs normally on 64-bit Windows through the built-in WOW64 compatibility layer, and it installs into Program Files (x86)\MP4Tools. Because MP4Joiner joins files by copying streams without re-encoding by default, its speed is limited by disk I/O rather than by 32-bit vs 64-bit code, so there is no meaningful performance difference. See our honest explainer: Is there a 64-bit version of MP4Joiner?

Which Windows versions?

Be precise here, because many sites are not: the project’s own PAD metadata still lists the old Windows 2000 / XP / Vista / 7 era, and the developer has never officially declared Windows 11 (or Windows 10) support. In practice, users run the 3.8 installer successfully on modern 64-bit Windows 10 and Windows 11 systems — that is community experience, not an official support promise. 2. Optionally verify the download: compare its SHA-256 hash with the value in the fact box above.
  3. Double-click the installer (Inno Setup) and follow the steps. Both MP4Joiner and MP4Splitter are installed together.
  4. Launch MP4Joiner from the Start menu, add your MP4 files, order them with the arrow buttons, and click Join.

Windows SmartScreen warning?

Because the installer is an older, unsigned open-source package, Windows SmartScreen may show a “Windows protected your PC” prompt. That is expected for this file — verify the hash first, then see what the MP4Joiner SmartScreen warning means and how to proceed safely.
